Jump Page HTML

March 20, 2012 By Michael G. Stults Leave a Comment

anchorI thought this would be a quick easy thing to share as it is something that I run across that needs to be done occasionally. I would bet that people are searching all the time on how to create a jump page or what is a jump page. It basically is simple HTML that you can add in your page that will give you a great way to allow people to move swiftly inside your page….especially if it is an extremely long page with a lot of content.

Jump Page How To:

  1. Create a basic link pointing to another section on the page using the A HREF (HTML).
  2. Give the “point” on the page a definitive “name”. Click Here Example

FatCow Hosting and Mail Servers for Google Apps

January 20, 2012 By Michael G. Stults 36 Comments

It came to my attention that in the past when setting up Google Apps via Fatcow Hosting, that Google Apps doesn’t give you much help with what MX records you need to use to make it all work. So I had just a couple of minutes and decided to make this quick post to give you some ideas on how I was able to get it to work for a few of my clients using Fatcow.

Essentially as you may know, that in Google Apps you need to point your MX Records from your hosting company to Google’s.  This gets the major part out of the way to get you started on that process. Visit here to learn more about setting up Google Apps.

Follow these steps to access your MX Records to modify: [Read more…]

8 Simple Steps to Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

December 22, 2011 By Michael G. Stults Leave a Comment

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and search ranking can be a beast to tackle. I typically tell clients that there is no magic pill you can take to just mysteriously show up on the first page of Google.

I hear stories all the time of the local business owner, who are good at their craft receiving a call with someone promising the first page of Google in no time. A few weeks later they wasted a few thousand dollars leaving them in a state of frustration! They are better off reading Search Engine Optimization for Dummies using its SEO checklist to make the changes. This is why WordPress is recommended to give the average Joe the chance to do some of the work themselves. [Read more…]

Affiliate Marketing – 7 Steps for Beginners

December 11, 2011 By Michael G. Stults 4 Comments

Affiliate Marketing is the core of my day-to-day life. I love it when my wife tries to explain to people what I do. I have to come up with brief examples to help her give the 411 so people not familiar with our business can understand. One time about 3 years ago, we had a lady ask my wife if the company I had worked for at that time was “legitimate” because it had a funny sounding name. This is one of the few business sectors you can have a weird sounding name and it be “professionally acceptable”. [Read more…]

Producteev – Your To-Dos Everywhere You Are

December 9, 2011 By Michael G. Stults 1 Comment

Searching for the latest and greatest tool to be productive? Well, good luck with that Charlie Brown. Producteev is a tool that I ran across over the last 30 days that has seemed to fit into the way I interact online. I have tried them all pretty much and thus far I have felt this has been the easiest to “use”.

I mainly use Chrome as my browser so not only can I easily login from any new tab I open, I can choose to login via Gmail, Facebook, Yahoo, and Google Apps. If you’re already logged into Gmail, then it is simple as selecting the icon from your new tab window. I suggest visiting the Chrome Web Store to get the application for Chrome.  [Read more…]

EVERNOTE – Man’s New Best Friend

December 8, 2011 By Michael G. Stults Leave a Comment

Evernote – Remember everything. Capture anything. Access anywhere. Find things fast.
Just when you thought that man's best friend would always be his trusty dog… well welcome the elephant in the room. They are cuddly, big, and if you make them mad they will squash you like an ant. I mean.. I am just saying.

Evernote has been a wonderful tool that I stumbled across last year. It allows me to clip portions of a page, the whole page, and make basic notes. Evernote offers a free account and a paid version for about $45-50 a year which allows for more storage. Honestly… the free account will suit you well in the mean time. [Read more…]

How To: Basics of Google Apps and Gmail

September 6, 2011 By Michael G. Stults 1 Comment

Google Apps

Google Apps is a suite of applications from Google that pull in core services to help you manage your business. Google Apps such as Email, Google Docs, Google Talk, and Google Calendar can be utilized with a unique domain. Example would be if you own www.widgets4sale.com, you can take that domain and brand it across most of the Google Apps. Essentially you would be logging into www.gmail.com but you are sending and receiving email at [email protected].
