Grow strong in your weakness is something we don't here often anymore. Weakness is a sign of defeat and in the corporate world of business it is highly recommended that you do not show this to your peers or competitors. The unfortunate truth of it all is we all have weaknesses. There are some that God supplied with an abundant gift of strength and stamina that more than likely defy those odds. For the most of us we have to call on that extra strength to guide our day to keep pushing forward.
Weakness Is Not A Punishment
I don't think having a weakness is a punishment necessarily but a reminder that we are not “super human” enough to do everything on our own. It seems that it always comes down sometimes to asking another human being for help whether it is big or small. Naturally some of us like to plan our day out and determine what will happen to us today. The truth is we have to dig into our faith to lean unto God to help supply that encouragement needed to keep going. I do understand looking at my own life that I am not always capable of “listening” at every moment of the day. I think the selfishness we are born with (need for food, air, and love) is so ingrained that it wants to fight that temptation to “let go”.
Proverbs 3:5 (NASB)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
God's preference is for us to depend on him continually trusting that he will guide and strengthen us as needed. My understanding is this is how we can grow strong in our weaknesses. All seems so simple doesn't it?
James 4:13-15 (NASB)
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 [a]Yet you do not know [b]what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 [c]Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become weary or tired.
His understanding is inscrutable.
29 He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who lacks might He increases power.
30 Though youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
31 Yet those who [a]wait for the LORD
Will gain new strength;
They will [b]mount up with [c]wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
